Read the dataset contract.

Your authenticated /v1/data-catalog and the Explorer's dataset guide describe each dataset currently admitted for your account. Public catalogue metadata and planned data families do not grant access.

Grain and fields

grain describes what identifies a row. fields gives the allowed names, JSON types, nullability and descriptions. A null source value is not zero. Do not infer a unit or adjustment from a numeric type.

Coverage and history

coverage is the available date range; history_ceiling_years also limits your Plan. The response's meta.coverage reflects the applicable query boundary.

Versions and revisions

schema_version describes the field contract; dataset_version identifies an immutable data version. Corrections create new versions. Retain both with the request and result.

Source references

source_ids identifies providers. official_url_fields names supported fields that link to their source pages. Select those fields when needed; OriginFold does not mirror source documents or archives.

Availability and known limits

temporal_capabilities, retention and derived_outputs describe supported timing and use boundaries. Update cadence, units or freshness not supplied by the admitted field documentation must not be guessed. Ask support before relying on an undocumented interpretation.

Results include Plan scope, entitlement version, source IDs and the applied cutoff in meta. Request an availability field only if that dataset exposes it. A version ID or a recent query time is not proof of source freshness.

Read the version update status

meta.update_status reports ready with the selected version's quality status, build time, source acquisition range and latest recorded source release time. A quality warning remains visible. Release time is null if no source snapshot supplies it. All these metadata timestamps are UTC.

These facts describe the exact manifest used for the page. They do not prove that every later upstream release has been collected and do not replace row-level available_at. An unavailable status means update information is unknown. Invalid metadata rejects the page without successful usage. Date columns use ISO dates, and timestamp columns retain their ISO time and supplied offset.
